Step 1
Boil a pot of salted water. Cut the broccoli into medium-sized florets.
Step 2
Add the broccoli to the boiling water. Cook for 10 min, or until fork-tender.
Step 3
Peel & mince the shallot.
Step 4
In a pan over medium heat, melt a dab of butter. Add the shallot & cook for 2 min, stirring frequently.
Step 5
Melt another dab of butter in the pan. Add the flank steak & cook for 2 min on each side, or until done to your liking.
Step 6
Season the steak with salt & pepper, then remove from the pan. Add a bit of water to the pan to deglaze it. Let the pan juices reduce for 2 min.
Step 7
Place the steak back in the pan to keep it warm as you prepare the broccoli.
Step 8
Drain the broccoli in a colander, then pour it into a bowl. Add another dab of butter & mash it with a fork until smooth. Season with salt & pepper.
Step 9
Slice the steak.
Step 10
Serve the meat over the mashed broccoli, cover all in yummy gravy. Enjoy!
