Strawberries

Step 1

Wash, trim & slice the strawberries.

Sugar (granulated)

Combine the strawberries & 1/3 of the sugar in a bowl. Set aside.

In a shallow dish, whisk together the egg, milk & 1/3 of the sugar.

Brioche bread (sliced)

Step 4

Dredge both sides of the brioche slices in the milk-egg mixture.

Melt a dab of butter in a pan over medium heat. Add the brioche & cook for 2 min on each side.

Step 6

Sprinkle the remaining sugar over both sides of the brioche slices.

Turn them over in the pan until they are well caramelized.

Step 8

Remove them from the pan, but keep the pan over low heat.

Step 9

Arrange the brioche slices on a serving plate.

Step 10

Add another dab of butter to the hot pan. Pour in the strawberries. Cook, stirring for 3-5 min, or until they form a compote.
