Pot (small), Oven, Stovetop, Parchment paper, Sheet Tray, Knife

Yellow onion

Step 1

Preheat the broiler. Peel, halve & thinly slice the onions.

Melt a dab of butter in a pot over medium heat. Add the onions. Sauté for 5 min.

Flour (all-purpose)

Step 3

Sift in the flour (optional). Stir to combine.

Chicken broth

Step 4

Add the chicken stock. Stir.

White wine

Step 5

Pour in the white wine (optional). Reduce the heat to low & simmer for 20 min.

Country bread (sliced)
Parmesan (grated)

Step 6

Place the bread slices on a baking sheet. Sprinkle generously with parmesan cheese & black pepper. Broil until the cheese is melty & the bread toasted. Be careful they don't burn!

Step 7

Ladle the soup into bowls. Top each with a slice of cheesy toast. Bon appétit!
