White onion

Step 1

Peel & small dice the onion.

Bacon

Step 2

Cut the bacon into 1/2 inch slices.

Step 3

Heat a pot over medium-high heat. Add the bacon, stir & cook until crispy, about 3-4 mins.

Smoked Paprika

Step 4

Add the diced onion & stir. Season with smoked paprika, black pepper & some chili powder if you have any. Stir & let the onions cook for 2-3 min.

Apple cider vinegar

Step 5

Add apple cider vinegar & stir to loosen the bits on the bottom of the pot.

Navy beans (canned)
Brown sugar (light)
Yellow mustard
Ketchup
Molasses

Step 6

Add drained & rinsed beans, brown sugar, mustard, ketchup & molasses. Stir everything together. If the mixture seems really thick, add a splash of water (about a 1/4 cup per serving). Cover & lower the heat to a simmer. Cook for 12-15 min.

Step 7

Uncover the beans & stir. The texture should be smooth & thick. Serve with additional bacon on top if you have any. Enjoy!
