Just like your favorite California burger chain, but better! :-)
Make sure you have...
Oven, Stovetop, Knife
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 350ºF. Line a sheet tray with foil or parchment paper. Add the frozen sweet potato fries & bake according to package directions.
Step 2
Meanwhile, wash & thinly slice the tomato.
Step 3
Peel & thinly slice the onion.
Step 4
Season the beef with salt & pepper. Mix to combine, then split the meat in half. Gently roll each portion into a ball (two portions of meat for each burger).
Step 5
Heat a drizzle of oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the meat to the skillet & quickly smash down with a spatula. Cook the patties for 2-3 min on each side.
Step 6
Top each patty with sliced cheese. Add one patty on top of the other. Cover & let the cheese melt for 1 min. Remove the burger from the heat.
Step 7
Remove the fries from the oven.
Step 8
Peel a few leaves from the head of lettuce, wash & pat dry.
Step 9
Assemble the burger: add thousand island dressing to the bottom of a piece of lettuce. Add the burger patties, tomato, onion & top with additional dressing. Add another lettuce leaf & wrap the burger tightly. Serve with the sweet potato fries & enjoy!
