An Italian-American classic in burger form - yum!
Mixing bowl, Frying pan, Stovetop
Step 1
In a bowl, add the ground chicken, bread crumbs, parmesan, egg & Italian seasoning (optional). Season generously with salt & pepper. With clean, dampened hands, mix to combine & form patties, about 3-4 inches in width.
Step 2
Heat a drizzle of oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the patties to the pan & cook undisturbed for 5-7 min per side, until fully cooked (165°F internal temp). Spoon half the marinara on top of the patties & sprinkle with mozzarella. Turn off the heat, cover the pan & let sit for 3-4 min, until the cheese melts.
Step 3
Toast the buns (optional). Warm the remaining marinara & spread it on the bottom bun. Layer a patty on top. Top with fresh basil, if using. Serve with a side salad, dressed to your liking.
