Pasta (elbow macaroni)

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 425°F. In a pot of salted boiling water, cook the macaroni according to the package instructions, but drain about 2 min early before it's fully cooked!

Bread crumbs (panko)
Parmesan (grated)

Step 2

In a small bowl, combine breadcrumbs, 1/2 the parmesan cheese, salt & pepper.

Butter (unsalted)
Flour (all-purpose)

Step 3

Melt butter in a pot over medium heat. Slowly whisk in flour until well-combined.

Milk (whole)

Step 4

Working quickly & carefully, whisk in the milk until smooth. Season with salt & pepper, then whisk again. Reduce the heat to a low simmer & allow the sauce to thicken for 2 min.

Cheddar (shredded)
Mozzarella (shredded)
Parmesan (grated)

Step 5

Whisk in shredded cheddar, mozzarella & the remaining parmesan cheese. The mixture should be thick & smooth.

Pasta (elbow macaroni)

Step 6

Add the drained macaroni to the cheese sauce & stir to combine.

Step 7

Transfer the mac & cheese to a baking dish in an even layer. Sprinkle the breadcrumbs on top. Bake in the oven at 425°F for 8-10 min, or until the top is golden brown.

Step 8

Serve immediately & enjoy!
