recipe

Yellow onion

Step 1

Peel & thinly slice the onion.

Ground beef

Step 2

Form the ground beef into a ball. Season the beef with salt & pepper.

Olive oil

Step 3

Heat a drizzle of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced onions & cook for 4-5 mins until they are softened. Divide the onions up into piles on the pan, one pile per serving. Top each onion pile with the portioned ground beef. Season with salt & pepper.

Step 4

Using a spatula, flatten the beef to create very thin patties. Cook undisturbed for 3-4 min. Flip & cook for another 3-4 min. Remove the patties from the skillet.

Texas Toast (frozen)
Swiss cheese (slices)

Step 5

Place the Texas toast in the pan. Top each piece with a slice of Swiss cheese. Add each patty to one piece of Texas toast. Top each patty with another slice of Swiss cheese & the remaining pieces of Texas toast.

Step 6

Cook for 3-4 min on each side or until the cheese is melty & the Texas toast is nicely browned.

Cornichons

Step 7

Slice & serve the patty melt with cornichons & potato chips if you have them! :-)
