Yellow onion

Step 1

Peel & dice the onion.

Ground beef
Olive oil

Step 2

In a pot, heat a drizzle of oil on medium heat. Add the ground beef, break up the meat & cook until it's no longer pink.

Chili powder
Cumin (ground)

Step 3

Season the meat with salt, pepper, chili powder & cumin. Season it up with more spices if you have them (we suggest onion powder, garlic powder & paprika)! Stir & cook for 1 min.

Tomato paste

Step 4

Add the tomato paste, stir & cook for 1 min. Then, add the diced onion, stir & cook for 3-4 min. Transfer everything to the base of a slow cooker.

Tomatoes (canned, diced)
Beef broth
Kidney beans (canned)

Step 5

Add the canned diced tomatoes, beef broth & drained kidney beans to the slow cooker. Season with salt & pepper. Cover & cook on HIGH for 4 hr or LOW for 7 hr.

Cornbread

Step 6

Uncover, stir & taste for seasoning. Serve with toasted cornbread. Top with sour cream & cilantro, if you have any. Enjoy!
