Step 1
Preheat the oven at 350°F. Peel & cube the potatoes.
Step 2
In a pot of salted boiling water, add the potatoes. Let them cook for 15 min over medium heat.

Step 3
Meanwhile, peel & mince the onions.

Step 4
Heat a drizzle of oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the onions & ground beef*. Sauté for 5-6 min, breaking down the meat with a spatula. Season with salt & pepper. Set aside. *Check out our tips for this step

Step 5
Once cooked through, drain the potatoes. Season with salt & pepper. Mash them using a potato masher or a fork. Add the butter & milk & continue mashing until smooth.

Step 6
Butter an oven-proof dish (we used a 28 x 19 cm dish here). Add the minced beef & spread the potato mash on top in an even layer. Top with grated cheese & bake for 20 min at 350°F.
Step 7
Once the shepherd's pie is nice & golden on top, remove the dish from the oven. Serve the shepherd's pie on a plate with a side of green salad. Enjoy!

For a truly flavorful dish, we suggest adding tomato paste & grated garlic.
