Flour (all-purpose)
Baking powder
Sugar (granulated)

Step 1

Preheat oven to 425°F. Sift the flour & baking powder together into a mixing bowl. Add the sugar & a pinch of salt.

Butter (unsalted)

Step 2

Cut the room-temperature butter into small pieces. Add the butter to the flour. Mix it together with your fingers until it forms a crumbly texture.

Milk (whole)

Step 3

Pour in the milk. Use a fork to combine the mixture.

Step 4

Transfer the dough to a lightly floured work surface. Gently knead the dough until forms a uniform ball of dough. Be careful not to over-knead it!

Step 5

Using a rolling pin, roll out the dough to about 1-inch thickness.

Step 6

Use a drinking glass or biscuit-cutter to cut out discs of dough.

Egg

Step 7

Transfer each disc to a parchment-lined baking sheet. Separate the egg, keeping only the yolk. Brush each biscuit with the egg yolk.

Step 8

Bake for 12-15 min, or until the tops are golden brown.

Step 9

Remove from the oven. Let cool slightly.

Step 10

Serve warm with butter, jam, honey or whatever you fancy!
