A swoon-worthy dessert...Sweet pears, fluffy cake & a layer of caramel!
Oven, Stovetop, Pot (small), Whisk, Peeler, Cake pan, Knife
Step 1
Bring the butter to room temperature. Preheat the oven to 325°F. Add half of the sugar to a small pot over medium-low heat. Add a splash of water.
Step 2
Add a pinch of salt. Stir & let cook until the sugar starts to caramelize.
Step 3
Grease a round cake pan.
Step 4
Add 2 tbsp of butter to the caramel. Mix to combine. Pour into the greased cake pan.
Step 5
In a mixing bowl, whisk together a pinch of salt with the remaining butter & sugar.
Step 6
Crack & whisk the eggs into the bowl.
Step 7
Add the flour. Mix to combine.
Step 8
Peel, core & slice the pears into thin wedges.
Step 9
Decoratively arrange the pears over the caramel in the cake pan.
Step 10
Carefully spread the cake batter over the pears. Bake for 30-40 min at 325°F.
Step 11
Remove the pan from the oven. Cool slightly. Use the tip of a knife to loosen the cake from the sides of the pan. Place a serving plate over the pan. Swiftly flip over the cake. Serve & enjoy!
