Utensils

Frying pan, Stovetop, Oven, Sheet Tray

recipe

Flour (all-purpose)
Corn starch

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 425°F. In a bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, salt & pepper. Mix it all together.

Beer

Step 2

Slowly whisk in the beer until a smooth batter forms.

Vegetable oil

Step 3

Heat oil in a skillet (1-2 cups or about 1 inch high) over medium-high heat for about 5 min, or until the temp reaches 325°F.

French fries (frozen)

Step 4

On a sheet tray lined with parchment paper, arrange frozen french fries in an even layer. Bake in the oven according to package instructions, until golden & crisp.

Cod (fresh)

Step 5

Test the frying oil by adding in a small drop of batter. If it quickly crisps up with lots of bubbles, it's ready! Pat the cod dry with a paper towel & dredge it in the beer batter. Shake off the excess batter & carefully add the cod to the oil.

Step 6

Fry the fish, undisturbed, 5-6 min on each side until fully cooked & crispy. Transfer to a paper towel lined plate. Season with salt.

French fries (frozen)

Step 7

Serve the fried fish with a side of crispy french fries & tartar sauce for dipping. Add some fresh lemon juice if you have. Enjoy!
