Apple

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 350°F. Peel & quarter the apples. Remove the core & seeds. Chop the apples into small pieces.

Corn starch
Cinnamon (ground)
Vanilla extract
Sugar (granulated)

Step 2

In a large bowl, add the apples, cornstarch, sugar, vanilla & cinnamon. Mix it all together.

Puff pastry

Step 3

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry using a rolling pin. Transfer the dough to a parchment-lined or greased tart pan. Fold over & crimp the edges to form a crust. Prick the dough several times with a fork & add in the apples.

Puff pastry

Step 4

Lay out the second puff pastry crust. Create your jack-o-lantern face by cutting holes into the crust. Make it as scary or silly as you like!

Egg

Step 5

Make a quick egg wash by cracking the egg in a small bowl. Mix it with a fork or whisk & brush the mixture over the edges of the pie crust.

Step 6

Carefully lay the jack-o-lantern crust over top the apples. Fold in the edges & seal the pie by pressing both crusts together with your fingers.

Step 7

Brush the top of the pie with the remaining egg wash. Bake at 350°F for 1 hour, or until the apples are cooked & the crust is golden.

Step 8

Serve & enjoy!
