Utensils

Stovetop, Pot (small)

recipe

Sugar (granulated)

Step 1

In a small saucepan on low heat, add the sugar & cook until its completely melted. Do not stir the sugar! Instead, gently swirl the pan every 15 sec or so. This should take about 3-4 min.

Butter (unsalted)

Step 2

Remove the pan from the heat once it is completely melted. Add the butter & whisk quickly until fully melted. The butter will bubble up quite a bit!

Heavy cream

Step 3

Add the heavy cream & stir. Add a pinch of salt. Set aside. The caramel sauce will look loose but will thicken up while resting. (If the sauce looks clumpy, add it back to the stove on low heat for 1-2 min while whisking until it comes together smoothly).

Step 4

Pour the caramel into a bowl and let it cool well before serving. Alternatively, pour the caramel into a glass jar to store it for several weeks. Enjoy!
