The secret to a good polenta? Hearty steak & creamy cheese!
Pot (small), Frying pan, Stovetop, Aluminum foil, Whisk
Step 1
Wash, halve & seed the pepper. Cut into thin strips. Then peel & chop the onion.
Step 2
Add a drizzle of olive oil to a pan over medium-high heat. Add the chopped onion & sliced pepper. Cook for 2 min, stirring frequently.
Step 3
Add the canned tomatoes, chopped garlic & 2 tbsp of water (per person). Stir to combine. Reduce the heat to low, cover & cook for 10 min.
Step 4
Remove the vegetables from the heat, cover & keep warm until ready to serve.
Step 5
Heat another pan over medium-high heat. Add a drizzle of olive oil & then the steak. Cook for 2 min on each side, or until done to your liking.
Step 6
Remove the steak from the pan & wrap it in aluminum foil.
Step 7
Bring the saucepan of milk to a gentle boil over medium heat. Season with salt & pepper. Slowly add the polenta, whisking constantly until creamy.
Step 8
Incorporate the cheddar. If it's too thick, add more milk or water.
Step 9
Slice the beef into thin strips.
Step 10
Serve the polenta, topped with the beef & vegetables. Season with salt & pepper. Fancy dinner is served!
