Ingredients for 1 pie
Preheat the oven to 400°F. Peel the shallots and cut them lengthwise in half.
In a frying pan on high heat, melt the butter with the sugar. Add the shallots.
Cook for 5 minutes, stirring frequently.
Add the vinegar, salt & pepper. (Optional: add a few branches of thyme) Lower the heat to low and cook for an additional 7 minutes, continuing to stir frequently.
Transfer the shallots to a pie dish and spread out evenly.
Place the puff pastry on top of the shallots, folding the edges over the top.
Using a fork, pierce the dough a few times and bake at 400°F for 20 minutes. Remove from the oven and allow to cool for 5 minutes.
To flip the tart, place a large plate over the pie dish and holding together, flip in one quick move. Enjoy!
