recipe
- Step 1
On one slice of bread, spread the dijon mustard. On the other slice, spread the mayonnaise. - Step 2
On one slice of the bread, assemble the sandwich: add one slice of Swiss cheese & the turkey & ham slices. Top with the other slice of cheese & the second slice of bread. Press down gently on the sandwich. - Step 3
In a shallow bowl, add the egg & milk. Season lightly with salt & pepper. Whisk together to combine. - Step 4
Dip the sandwich into the egg mixture & flip it to coat the second side. - Step 5
Melt a dab of butter in a skillet on medium heat. Add the sandwich & cook for 3-4 min on one side. Flip & cook for another 2-3 min or until the bread is well browned & the cheese is melty. Remove the sandwich from the heat. - Step 6
Dust the Monte Cristo with powdered sugar (optional). Cut in half & enjoy with your favorite fruit jam for that classic sweet & savory flavor!
