Use a risotto technique to make mac & cheese for grown-ups!
Stovetop, Pot (small), Microwave
Step 1
Peel & mince the shallot.
Step 2
Melt a pat of butter in a pot over medium heat. Add the shallot. Sauté for 1-2 min.
Step 3
Add the macaroni & stir.
Step 4
Pour in the wine. Season with salt & pepper. Stir constantly until the wine is absorbed.
Step 5
Heat the chicken stock in the microwave.
Step 6
Add a ladleful of stock to the pot. Stir constantly until it's absorbed. Continue this process with the remaining stock.
Step 7
After 10 min, the pasta should be cooked. If not, add a bit more stock or water & keep stirring.
Step 8
Add the grated cheese to the cooked pasta. Pour in the cream. Season with salt & pepper. Remove from the heat. Stir until the cheese has melted.
Step 9
Serve the macaroni topped with torn pieces of ham. Garnish with chopped parsley & a dab of butter (optional). Enjoy!
