Endive and blue cheese tart

Belgian endive

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 400°F. Wash the endives, cut off the ends, and cut them in half lengthwise.

Sugar (granulated)
Salted butter
Belgian endive

Step 2

In a frying pan on high heat, melt the butter with the sugar. Add the endives.

Step 3

Brown the endives for 3 minutes on one side. Flip and cook for another 2 minutes.

Balsamic vinegar

Step 4

Add the vinegar, salt & pepper. Lower the heat to low, cover, and cook for an additional 5 minutes, while continuing to stir frequently.

Step 5

Optional: add a layer of parchment paper to the bottom of your pie dish to make it easier to remove.

Step 6

Transfer the endives to a pie dish and spread out evenly.

Puff pastry

Step 7

Place the puff pastry on top of the endives, folding the edges over the top.

Step 8

Using a fork, pierce the dough a few times and bake at 400°F for 20 minutes.

Step 9

Once golden brown, remove from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes.

Step 10

To flip the tart, place a large plate over the pie dish and holding together, flip in one quick move.

Step 11

Add the crumbled blue cheese on top. Serve with a green salad and enjoy!
