recipe

  • Step 1
    Peel & cube the potatoes.
  • Step 2
Cook the potatoes in a pot of salted boiling water for 10-15 min, or until fork-tender.
  • Step 3
While the potatoes are cooking, chop the shallot.
  • Step 4
    Then drain the potatoes.
  • Step 5
Add the potatoes to a bowl. Season with salt & pepper. Add a pinch of nutmeg (optional).
  • Step 6
Add the milk & butter to the potatoes. Mash it all together with a fork or potato masher. Add more milk, if needed. Cover & keep warm.
  • Step 7
Melt the rest of the butter or a drizzle of oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Add the shallot. Cook, stirring for 1 min.
  • Step 8
Season the beef patties on both sides with salt & pepper. Then add the patties to the pan. Cook for 2 min on each side, or until done to your liking. Remove the meat from the pan. Set aside & keep warm.
  • Step 9
Add 2 tbsp of water (per serving) to the hot pan. Stir the water with the beef patty drippings to create au jus. Let the sauce thicken for 1-2 min.
  • Step 10
Serve the beef with the mashed potatoes & sauce. Enjoy!
