recipe

  • Step 1
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Peel & mince the onion.
  • Step 2
Heat a drizzle of olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the onion & grated or minced garlic. Cook, stirring for 2 min.
  • Step 3
Add the ground beef. Season with salt & pepper. Cook for 3-4 min, breaking it into pieces with a spatula as it cooks.
  • Step 4
Add the tomato purée, salt, pepper & oregano. Add fresh basil (optional).
  • Step 5
Reduce the heat to low & let simmer for 3-5 min.
  • Step 6
Melt the butter in another pot over medium-low heat.
  • Step 7
Add the flour. Stir until smooth & combined.
  • Step 8
Gradually pour in the milk, mixing continuously as the sauce thickens.
  • Step 9
Season with salt & pepper. Add a pinch of nutmeg (optional). Mix it all together. Remove from heat.
  • Step 10
Start layering your lasagna! Add a drizzle of oil to a baking dish. Lay a single layer of lasagna sheets in the pan. Spread half of the meaty tomato sauce over top. Add a third of the mozzarella & béchamel sauce. Repeat to make another layer!
  • Step 11
Add a third layer of lasagna sheets. Top with the remaining mozzarella & béchamel sauce.
  • Step 12
Cover with foil or a lid. Bake for 30-40 min, or until the lasagna noodles are cooked through. Serve & enjoy!
